Sweet basil, known for its aromatic leaves, can be used in a variety of ways. Dried or fresh, use it to garnish and brighten up any summer dish. 

Storage: 
  • Store with the stems in a glass of water. 
  • When fresh basil leaves get wet or cold they will often turn dark. If this happens to your basil in storage, don’t worry- it’s still perfectly good to eat.
  • Dries and freezes well.

Cooking Tips:
  • Chop up fresh basil and add to a curry, sauce, or salad dressing. 
  • On the weeks when you receive large quantities of basil in your share make a quick pesto by removing stems and tossing into a food processor (or chop by hand) with garlic, oil, salt, and perhaps nuts and/or parmesan.
