What a difference an August weekend makes. On Friday, we were so hot in the oppressive humidity that we found ourselves weeding the tomato plants despite them not really needing it, simply so we could hide in the shade of their voluminous foliage...

Today, we were harvesting and trimming leeks wearing sweatshirts in the sixty-degree weather...

It is easier in this weather to imagine fall recipes of broccoli soups and roasted roots. Luckily the fall crops we managed to get in the ground through the busy summer weather are growing incredibly well...
